Thankful Sunday

I can’t believe it is Sunday again and the end of January already! Time just really flies.

This week has been full of blessings and definitely deserves a blog post.
I am very grateful for..

– my first pregnancy session that I will be doing next month. I am beyond excited.
– the perfect weather yesterday. It was our first time covering a farm wedding and we had the perfect amount of sunlight and clouds! I even managed to get a tan!
– the amazing couples that I met this week. 2011 is already shaping up to be an awesome year.
– for having the time to finish one painting. Yes, I can’t believe it myself!
– and lastly, for the quality time spent with the family today.

Have a blessed Sunday everyone! ♥

Reuben and Amy {Wedding} – Higher Taste, Wellington

The anticipation for this day has been childlike ever since they asked us to be their photographers. We were beyond excited that Reuben and Amy chose us to document their one-of-a-kind wedding and so thrilled because really, their families are just the sweetest.

Their wedding was the first Indian wedding I ever covered, and it was everything I had hoped for and more. The details and the colors were just so beautiful, I really felt like a child in a candy store photographing this wedding. I can’t even begin to describe how magical and unforgettable it was, so I’ll just let these photographs speak for themselves.

Siva (Yes, I’m calling you Siva because I feel like we’re now friends too! haha.) and Amy, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for letting us be parts of your lives this way. It was a pleasure to see your family again and we appreciate how welcome you made us feel. It was such a wonderful day and I couldn’t have thought of a better way to start the new year.

The day started with lots of smiles and blings. It was absolutely gorgeous!

Amy, you told me before that you don’t actually like getting your photos taken because you think you don’t photograph well. Well, I think you should have your pictures taken all the time because you are an absolute darling in front of the camera! If you need proof, just take a look at these gorgeous photos of yours!

It was also the first time that we did a “first look”. Reuben and Amy chose to see each other before the ceremony, and I’m so happy they did because the light was amazing!

My view of the first look..

..and here’s the first look from Jay’s perspective.. I looooove the look on Reuben’s face when he saw Amy!

..then it was time for their portraits..these two were such sweethearts and so easy to work with. The smiles on their faces show just how happy they really are to be marrying each other.

The ceremony and reception were held at the Higher Taste Restaurant in Old Bank Arcade. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many colors in my life! It was beautiful!

**EDIT: A wedding post wouldn’t be complete without a slideshow. So here’s something I made for this lovely couple. Enjoy!

Summer of Music

Music has always been a big part of our lives, Candy used to sing solo, with a choir and with bands and I used to play in bands in the past.

Music also features heavily in our photography, we take inspiration from songs and try to tell a story with music. Every song we choose for our slideshow presentations expresses the atmosphere and emotion of the event we have been a part of.

Wellington has such a vibrant and triving music scene, there are plenty of talented and inspired artists just waiting to make their mark. How lucky are we that we can combine our love of music with our passion for photography!

Our first featured band is ‘Poppy Dust‘ a Wellington pop/funk group.

Summer, please stay forever! -j

A Sunday kind of love #3

Happy beautiful Sunday!
May your Sunday be filled with sweet smiles and simple pleasures.

Viko & Casey {Wedding} – Silverstream Retreat

Viko and Casey were married at Silverstream Retreat on a very fine Wellington day, 2 days after I shot their lovely engagement session. They couldn’t have chosen a more perfect day and place to tie the knot. The day was filled with just as much love as they have for each other. It was simply beautiful.

Casey was one of the very first brides who booked me early last year. I had only 1 wedding on my website then but she believed that I would be able to capture the essence of her wedding. So there I was 10 months later, documenting their love story and I couldn’t be happier.

Thank you Viko and Casey for trusting me and congratulations on such an amazing and heartfelt day. I truly enjoyed the time I spent with you two.

And this photo here sums up their wedding day.. full of  joy and love.

and here’s the fun slideshow I made for this sweet couple.

I also had the privilege to work with Clarence U on their wedding day. For photos taken from his perspective click here.
